Information and Options

Due to the COVID19 pandemic, we have had to make the difficult but well-considered decision to cancel the 2020 Edinburgh Kiltwalk. We are as disappointed as you are but look forward to being back as soon as it's safe.

To allow you to continue fundraising for your chosen charity and receive a 50%* top-up on all fundraising, we have developed the Virtual Kiltwalk Weekend 11-13th September. The pandemic is having a devastating effect on our charities and it is our No.1 priority to keep fundraising happening during these challenging times.

All 2020 Edinburgh Kiltwalkers are automatically entered into the Virtual Kiltwalk Weekend. So no extra costs or registration form, you’re already set up to take part.

All you need to do is keep the fundraising going and complete your Virtual Challenge on the weekend of 11th - 13th September. All funds raised for your charity will be topped up by 50%* thanks to The Hunter Foundation.

You will soon receive a Virtual Support pack from us by email that will include many resources to support your fundraising and bring your virtual challenge to life.

Kiltwalk 2020 Medal

We are delighted to announce that all Virtual Kiltwalk participants will receive a 2020 Kiltwalk Medal to honour their fundraising efforts. We will be in touch soon with more details on how we will get these to you after the Virtual event.

Charity donation

If you were signed up to the Big Stroll or Mighty Stride, we will donate £18 to your charity due to the difference in registration fees.

Other options

We recognise that the Edinburgh Virtual Kiltwalk and/or the Charity donation option might not suit you. Your other options are outlined below and the 'Options' form must be completed by Monday 3rd August.

If we do not hear from you by Monday 3rd August, we will assume that you are happy to take part in the Virtual Kiltwalk Weekend and your partial refund (if applicable) will be donated to your chosen charity.

Option 1 - Partial refund (applicable to Mighty Stride and Big Stroll walkers)

If you wish to participate in the Virtual Kiltwalk Weekend but would like to receive the partial refund instead of donating it to your chosen charity, select 'Option 1' in our online form and submit to us by Monday 3rd August.
What is the partial refund?

As the entry fee for the new Virtual walkers is £12 (plus processing fee) and the Edinburgh Kiltwalk 2020 Mighty Stride and Big Stroll registration fee is £30 (plus processing fee), we are offering to donate the difference of £18 to your chosen charity.

If you used a promo code during registration for the Edinburgh Kiltwalk, the result of the option you choose will be affected by the discount % of the code provided and agreement with the code provider.

Option 2 - Transfer your place to 2021

If you do not wish to take part in the Virtual Weekend, you have the option of transferring your Kiltwalk place to Edinburgh 2021. If you would like to select this option, please select 'Option 2' in the options form by Monday 3rd August.

Option 3 - Request a full refund

We can refund your registration fee in full minus processing fee if you do not want to continue supporting your chosen charity on the Virtual Kiltwalk Weekend.

For Mighty Striders and Big Strollers, the refund total would be £30, Wee Wanderer adults £12 and children £6.

Please be aware if you withdraw from the event, The Kiltwalk must contact your online donors to enquire whether they wish their donations to be refunded or forwarded onto your charity. The fundraising forwarded on will not be eligible for a top up.

If you used a promo code during registration for the Edinburgh Kiltwalk, the result of the option you choose will be affected by the discount % of the code provided and agreement with the code provider.

If you would like to take the refund, you must select 'Option 3' in the 'Options form' by Monday 3rd August.
