An unforgettable day in Glasgow

A stand out day in Kiltwalk History, 4,000 Kiltwalk Heroes lace up their boots and take to the streets of Glasgow to raise funds for charities they care about. Scotland's Kiltwalk was the first live Kiltwalk event for two years due to the pandemic and wow was it a special one.

We are delighted to announce that Scotland's Kiltwalkers raised an outstanding £1.1 million for nearly 500 Scottish Charities! Sir Tom Hunter and the Kiltwalk were so proud of what Kiltwalkers achieved that they decided to top up donations, not by 50% but instead a whopping 100%*!

Already 500 charities have received £2.2 million thanks to the kindness of Scotland's Kiltwalk heroes.

*The fundraising top up limit for this current year 1st January 2021 to 31st December 2021 is £5000 per walker or donor. This is a cumulative limit for all Kiltwalk events in the above period. All fundraising top ups are subject to deadlines and Trustee approval.

Can I register more than one person at a time?

You can register multiple people by selecting ‘Register another person’ and make one payment for everyone at the end.

Can I change the distance I’m registered for?

Yes, just let us know what distance you’d like to do and we’ll update your details. If changing to or from The Wee Wander then there will be a difference in registration fee so we’ll either refund you or ask you to pay the difference. Changes cannot be made after we have sent out your lanyard and pass which is generally a few weeks before the event.

Can I change my start time?

Due to the current restrictions we will be offering more start time slots to ensure participants are spaced out on the route.

See all time slots available for the Mighty Stride and Wee Wander within our registration system.

If there is space to move you into a different time slot, yes we can make this amendment for you but if the time slot is full, unfortunately we cannot accommodate your request. We cannot change your time slot once your lanyard and pass have been sent out to you by post (generally this is a few weeks before the event).

Please note due to restrictions on numbers we are anticipating time slots filling up quicker than normal so please inform us of any changes as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

How much is the event?

We have reduced the event entry fee to reflect some of the changes we have had to make within the current restrictions (see the main web page for details).

Prices are:

Mighty Stride (16.5 miles) : £25.00 (13 years and over)
Wee Wander (3.5 miles): £12.80 adults / £6.50 children aged 5-15 years/ Under 5’s are free

Withdrawing & Refunds

What happens if I have to withdraw due to injury, medical or COVID related reasons?

We will cancel your entry and refund you your registration fee as long as we are made aware by 11.00am on 26th September 2021. Unfortunately, we’re unable to refund your service fee.

I can no longer make the Kiltwalk due to other commitments. What are my options?

Unfortunately, we’re unable to refund registration fees unless you are withdrawing due to injury, illness or are isolating due to COVID; however, you can give your place to someone else. Please email to find out how to transfer your place.

What happens to my fundraising if I withdraw?

If you have already fundraised you have the option of giving that fundraising to your chosen charity (minus the 50% top up from Sir Tom Hunter) or returning the funds to your donors.


How do I register a team?

You can create a team when you register by selecting ‘Create team’. Others can then join your team by selecting ‘Join an existing team’ when they register.

How do I join a team if I’ve already registered?

This is something the Kiltwalk team can arrange for you, please email

To join a team on the JustGiving platform, you need to login to your JustGiving page and choose ‘Join an existing team’ from the right hand side for it to show up on your fundraising page.

Why aren’t all of my team members showing up on JustGiving?

This may happen if team members haven’t yet activated their JustGiving page. If your team members have activated their fundraising page then they should appear on your team page.

Can we have one team fundraising page?

Yes, your team can share a JustGiving fundraising page that will display your joint fundraising total. Please note that all donations must be sent to an individuals fundraising page and cannot be sent to a teams page.


My charity isn’t on the list. How do I get them added?

Please complete our online Charity Request Form if your Charity doesn’t appear on our registration list. You will need the name of the charity, a contact name, number, email and any website or social media pages you are aware of.

We’ll then contact them to obtain the necessary information to confirm whether they meet our criteria to be included on our charity list. This process can take up to three days to complete and then we will inform you of our decision and whether the charity can be added.

Can I change the charity I’m fundraising for?

If you have accidentally selected the wrong charity during registration but you have manually entered the correct charity within the ‘My story’ section on your JustGiving fundraising page, then yes we can make this amendment for you. If you have already received fundraising but haven’t noted the correct charity on your JustGiving fundraising page then please email us at as we will need to contact every individual donor to ask if they happy for their donation to go to your new charity, otherwise we will refund them.

We must be notified of your change of charity a minimum of two weeks before the event.

Why does my JustGiving page say I’m fundraising for The Kiltwalk?

All fundraising comes to Kiltwalk first so that we can gather the funds, add on the 50%** top up and send back out to your chosen charity. You can edit your ‘Story’ on your JustGiving page to let people know which charity you are fundraising for.

What do I do with offline donations and can I add these to my fundraising page?

Offline donations must be sent to us by BACS transfer (see details below) and a copy of your offline sponsorship form must be emailed to If BACS transfer isn’t possible then we will accept cheques accompanied by the offline sponsorship form to the below address. All offline funds must be received by Kiltwalk by the fundraising deadline of midnight Monday 4th October 2021 in order to get the 50% top up from The Hunter Foundation.

You can add your offline donations to your JustGiving page by logging in to, clicking “edit” on your Kiltwalk fundraising page and clicking donations. You can add each donation individually or as a lump sum. This will let your supporters see the total amount you have raised.

What are the cut-off dates for fundraising?

The fundraising deadline for Scotland’s Kiltwalk is midnight on Monday 4th October.

The Route

Where does each walk start and end?

The Mighty Stride starts at Glasgow Green (G1 5DB) and ends in Meadow Leisure Centre (G82 2AA).

The Wee Wander starts at Glasgow Green (G1 5DB) and ends at the Riverside Museum (G3 8RS).

Is the route wheelchair accessible?

Yes, we recommend the Wee Wander for wheelchair users. The Mighty Stride route is mainly flat but due to the length of the route, unfortunately, we can’t guarantee wheelchair accessibility and good conditions on all surfaces.

Are prams and buggies allowed on the walk?

Yes, we recommend the Wee Wander for participants using prams or buggies. The Mighty Stride route is mainly flat but due to the length of the route, unfortunately, we can’t guarantee accessibility and good conditions on all surfaces.

Transport & Parking

Are buses available?

Yes. Buses are available for Mighty Striders to book now. This service takes you from the finish line at Dumbarton Meadow Leisure centre back to Glasgow City Centre with stops in Clydebank and at Glasgow Central Station.

Can I leave my car in Meadow Leisure Centre in the morning?

Yes, there will be limited parking available at the leisure centre but additional street parking is available nearby. Check out our Transport and Parking guide for more.

What public transport options are there?

Due to the event being on a Sunday and some planned engineering works in Glasgow on Sunday 26 September, there may be limited public transport available to you.

Please check timetable information prior to event day if you still wish to arrive by public transport.

Event Changes Due To Covid

Event Changes

To keep Kiltwalkers safe, we have implemented a few changes that you must be aware of. Here is a short overview but again, keep checking the Kiltwalk website for the latest updates:

  • Fast track starts - You will be given an exact time to arrive and start your event. Please be aware we anticipate small queues for busy time slots. The time slots may be earlier or later than what you have experienced at previous Kiltwalks. Please note that you will be unable to enter the event if you miss your timeslot.

  • Limited spaces available- We will be restricting numbers to maximise the safety of you and your fellow Kiltwalkers.

  • No gathering - We have altered arrangements on the day to ensure that you and your group can stay socially distanced from others. To ensure this, we have had to remove food and drink facilities at the start and finish line venues. Please be mindful of other walkers and stay socially distanced from them on the day of the event.

  • No spectators - To ensure as many Kiltwalkers can participate as possible on the day, we are unable to accommodate spectators.

  • Mask wearing - Masks are to be worn at all Kiltwalk venues such as the start site, Pit Stops and upon entry to the end site.

  • Track and Trace - It will be compulsory to scan the NHS track and trace QR code upon entry to your start venue.

Thank you in advance for strictly adhering to these rules and helping us stage a COVID safe Kiltwalk event.

Do I need to provide my vaccination history or produce a negative lateral flow to gain entry to the event?

No, early indications from the Scottish government and local councils do not indicate that this will be necessary for this event. However, every aspect of the event is subject to change so we will keep you posted via email, social media and on this webpage if the situation changes.

What do I do if I get a positive COVID result just ahead of the Kiltwalk?

You must follow current Government guidance, isolate for 10 days and DO NOT attend the Kiltwalk event. Latest details on what to do here -

Please email us to make us aware as soon as possible and before 11am Sunday 26 September to be eligible for a refund.

Do I need to ‘check in’ to Track and Trace at the event?

Yes, all Kiltwalk participants will be asked to check in to the NHS Track and Trace system on the day. Details will be provided on posters as you enter Glasgow Green.

Please note that all participants will be scanned into the event by Kiltwalk organisers using the ID pass sent out to you by post. Please help us by wearing this clearly upon arrival so it can be scanned by Kiltwalk staff and/or volunteers.

Will I need to socially distance?

Yes, you will stay within your group or bubble on the day and must keep 2m apart from other Kiltwalk participants.

What should I bring?

It is vital that you bring a mask to wear in key Kiltwalk zones along the route. Please bring your own hand sanitiser on the day and use it regularly. Hand sanitiser will be provided at key Kiltwalk venues on the route.

Can family and friends watch me cross the finish line?

Unfortunately, due to the current restrictions we have not been given approval for spectators to attend the event but our wonderful Kilte volunteers will be in place to cheer you over the finish line and make sure you get your well deserved medal. This is hopefully just a temporary measure for this event and Kiltwalk spectators will be welcomed back to future Kiltwalk events as soon as restrictions ease.Thank you for your understanding.

Will there be a Kiltwalk Village?

Due to the restrictions, we have had to remove the normal Kiltwalk Village activity at this event. After you cross the finish line and receive your individually wrapped finishers medal, we will guide you towards the food stall where you can collect your pre-packed finishers meal. We will then ask you to make your way towards your home transport.

It is vital that we do not linger in the Kiltwalk Village and therefore on this occasion there will be no bar or entertainment available.

We hope that this is just a temporary measure and we can stage the full Kiltwalk experience again as soon as restrictions ease. Thank you for your understanding.
