Scotland's Virtual Kiltwalk is back on the weekend of 7 - 9 October 2022 and you're all invited!

After the huge success of the 2021 Virtual Kiltwalk, we are delighted to make Scotland's Virtual Kiltwalk a staple part of our 2022 Event Calendar.

Anyone can take part in Scotland's Virtual Kiltwalk in 2022! All you need to do is select your challenge, select your Scottish charity and start fundraising. Everything you raise will be topped up by a HUGE 50%* thanks to the generosity of Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation.

YOUR CHALLENGE

Our top priority is making it easy for you to raise for a Scottish charity YOU care about so a Virtual Kiltwalk means no matter where you are, you can take on any challenge you wish. That may be walking, running, skipping, jumping on a trampoline, anything! All we ask is that you pop on a bit of tartan and upload your pictures to social media, tagging the Kiltwalk and using the hashtag #ScotlandsVirtualKiltwalk

Get creative and go for it! We give you the freedom to decide on a great challenge for yourself and we love to see what you get up to.

We may not be with you on the day but we're with you all the way across our social channels. Look out for plenty of Virtual surprises coming your way over the Virtual Weekend 7-9 October.

*The fundraising top up limit for this year runs from 1st January 2022 to 31st December 2022 and is £5000 per walker or donor. This is a cumulative limit for all Kiltwalk events in the above period. All fundraising top ups are subject to deadlines and Trustee approval.

FAQs

Participant FAQs

What is a Virtual Kiltwalk?

A Kiltwalk challenge for you to complete separately at home or in your local area. Similar to a Kiltwalk, you can don some tartan and complete a walking challenge or any challenge you wish to raise money for your chosen charity and Sir Tom Hunter will top up all funds raised by 50%*.

Creating your own Kiltwalk challenge is half the fun and a great way to encourage new ideas to boost funds.

You must complete your challenge over the weekend of 7 - 9 October 2022. All fundraising must be collected in by midnight on the 17 October and we will then transfer your fundraising to your charity plus the 50% top up* from Sir Tom Hunter.

*The fundraising top up limit for this year runs from 1st January 2022 to 31st December 2022 and is £5000 per walker or donor. This is a cumulative limit for all Kiltwalk events in the above period. All fundraising top ups are subject to deadlines and Trustee approval.

Do I get a refund if I withdraw from the event?

If you are not able to take part in the Virtual event please email us at contactus@thekiltwalk.co.uk and a member of our team will be in touch.

When does registration close?

Registration will close at 3pm on Sunday 9 October.

Do I get a walker pack?

You will receive a Digital Challenge Pack by email that will include many resources to support your fundraising such as Challenge bibs, Event signage, Social stickers, family entertainment and much more.

How do I access my online fundraising page?

When you register you will be sent out a confirmation email which will include a link to your online fundraising page on JustGiving. This allows you to share the link to collect in your fundraising and monitor funds as you go.

Remember to update your profile picture and update your story on the page so that your donors understand why you're fundraising. Did you know that fundraising with personalised pages receives far more donations? Fact!

Can I send in funds collected offline?

Yes you can.

Offline donations must be sent to us by BACS transfer (see details below) and a copy of your offline sponsorship form must be emailed to contactus@thekiltwalk.co.uk. If BACS transfer isn’t possible then we will accept cheques accompanied by the offline sponsorship form to the below address. All offline funds must be received by Kiltwalk by the fundraising deadline for each event in order to get the 50% top up from The Hunter Foundation.

You can add your offline donations to your JustGiving page by going to justgiving.com and logging in. (Please note, you must login to justgiving.com and follow these steps exactly to add offline donations).

Select ‘Your Fundraising’ from the right hand side menu. You should then see a list of all your active fundraising pages. Select the page you wish to add your offline fundraising to. Select ‘Donations’ and you can type in your total offline donation figure. Click ‘Save offline donation’ button and this will let your supporters see the total amount you have raised on your page.

What will happen during the weekend?

Make sure you have printed out your challenge resources from your Challenge Pack including Challenge bibs, Kiltwalk signage and more. (Digital Challenge Packs will be sent to you by email closer to your Virtual event).

Get ready to don some tartan and you’re ready to go! Keep an eye on your emails and Kiltwalk social channels for plenty of entertainment as you walk. Remember to upload pictures from your challenge to social media and tag in the Kiltwalk and use hashtag #ScotlandsVirtualKiltwalk. Best of luck!

What should I take with me?

That will depend on what challenge you are planning to take on! For longer walks, we always recommend taking a supply of water and snacks to keep you going. Depending on the weather forecast, you may consider wearing layers and packing a waterproof jacket, blister packs and ensure you have comfortable, worn-in shoes on.

If you are intending on completing your challenge on your own, always make sure that a family member or friend knows your route and when you are walking. We always advise carrying a fully charged mobile phone.

How will I get my medal?

Your Scotland's Virtual Kiltwalk medal will be posted shortly after 9th October to the address you registered with.

Please note that we will be in touch if you have provided an international address. International postage charges may apply.
